Darkness

Darkness

Not one light shining inside,
My body moving slow.
Thick, sticky sludge outside,
My way out, I’d like to know.

Fighting, I try to stand,
I’m so tired of this battle.
My limbs, the consistency of sand,
As my identity begins to rattle.

Day by day I feel shame,
It’s only me to blame.
Giving in to the intense pain,
I plead for help in Gods Name.

As the cloak of the Divine starts to cover,
I attempt one foot in front of the other.
Stepping in to the light,
I can finally start to see what’s right.

About this poem

This poem touches on the darkness of depression. And divine inspiration to attempt to get through it.
