Dark Places

What causes my mind to go astray
Thoughts of loss and death has taken its place
Escape is all I think about as I try to endure
The constant tragedy I find myself, a constant allure

Thinking of peace and tranquillity in this life no longer can bring
The sound of silence is what I am thinking
Cutting out breath and life not awaking from this state
Drowning out my sorrows from its pain

Drinking away to no longer feel
Take a knife and cut away what is real
Turn a page and chapter till the end
Fill my diary, my only friend

As others leave without decide
I try just to hang on to this life
What will bring me there without fear
Yearning without control just tears

When will my head quite down
Until  I no longer hear a sound
No echoes  that can be heard
Peace in life or death be it my turn

About this poem

This poem was written in a moment in time where my grief and loss was overwhelming and my mere existence was being debated in words and not deeds.
