comfort to my melancholy

i lied back and tipped my head
in the cup of life's hand
i broke down in her arms and
asked her why things are the way they are
why has my own mind become a battlefield
and the bloodshed fall down as tears from my eyes
I've run short of hands to wipe them away
screaming, "kiss the pain away"
hold my body as my soul falls to pieces
screaming, "love me at my worst"
paint this gloomy town golden
as i undress my history of catastrophes
look at all the darkness inside me
and call me your sun
you've felt my agony
you've seen the fall of my Icarus
so take my heart
and trade it for something stronger
hold me
till my screams fade down to whispers
and my red wine eyes shut themselves to sleep
i know the pain will reside forever
but just for tonight,
let me find your comfort amidst my melancholy.

About this poem

This poem is like a letter to 'life'. I wrote it when I wasn't feeling my best and just wanted life to understand me and go easy on me.
