Abandoned

I watch their time
Tick-Tock
As they get close to the end of the clock
Their faces are always scrunched in worry
of what will become of me
when they depart from this earth.

What will become of me ?
Huh?
Mother ..
But you don't care
Out there dancing to each and every tune of the playlist
I guess you don't miss the baby
YOU popped out your belly
and just like that
YOU popped me out your life
Like a pimple so simple
yet holding you back

Mom ..
I've grown
yet
I don't own a single nickname from you
I guess the city lights are too bright
that you've lost your eyesight.
Have you lost the directions to come back home?

Granny talks about you mom
From day to noon
Your childhood stories
Mom
What happened to the girl granny talks about?
Mom ..at nine months you left me
When I had yet to still master the works of breathing .

Every birthday
I thought you would show up
and tell me just why you left us
Left me at the mercy of cold
The coldness in my heart
the emptiness.

But
I know wherever you are
As you dance and laugh
like you've got everything alright.
You will always see me at the back of your mind
YOUR child you left
for the world to raise

I've always found peace in putting myself in other people's shoes and trying to express how they might be feeling. I love words because they are yours no one can ever take them from you. more…
