Love Sometimes Argues

Doug Blair 1951 (London)

You’re doing it again
Smiling when in fact
You disagree strongly
Gathering forces
For the counter-attack.
Getting me back
When fully brewed.
Never rude or dismissive.
I love the smile
Feeling at home
All the while.
With the Precious One
Who shares my bed, board
Pains, snores
Debts, regrets
Cares and prayers.
Hopes for a better day ahead.
Championing our argument with
One wrap-up comment
Instead.
The kind one can never
Gainsay.
It’s your way.
Restraining the paining.
