Pieces

Pieces 12/03/22

As I think of my journey
My path, my steps in the sand
I realized I haven’t spent enough time
Haven’t paused, to reflect, to understand

It’s always go, go forward
Press on, move ahead
When perhaps all along
I should stop, rest and sit instead

Not stop the journey
Nor give up the fight or goal
But perhaps take a moment, refresh
Reset the soul

As I look in the mirror
The reflection is me, changing with age
My life is a journal, a novel
Many authors have touched each page

It’s the pieces, added, picked up
Along each step of the way
That make up this reflections, this soul
That stares back at me today

The pieces, came together over time
Bending, twisting, forming my past
Some planned, some happenstance
Some temporary, some made to last

It’s the pieces, the mosaic, the mural
The music, the beat and the rhyme
The pieces come together to weave
The tapestry of my time

It’s the pieces, the handprints, the tiles
The laughs the tears and the smiles
The anger, the rage, the whole range of all
The pieces, the steps, the journey, the miles.
