An Ode to the Writing Warriors: The Legacy of Paper, Pen, Books and Pencil
Mawphniang Napoleon 1993 (Ri Bhoi)
Oh, dear friends of paper, pen, books and pencil,
Forgive me for the use and abuse I deal,
My writing instruments, I am sorry,
For all the times I threw you in a hurry.
I am old school, you see, and it's true,
Computers cause me headaches, I confess,
I cannot afford the best in the market,
And I cannot pay for electricity charges.
So, I must exploit you, my dear tools,
To achieve my goal and make my words sing,
But understand, my dear, it is not cool,
For I should not have done such foolish thing.
My apologies to all my dear friends,
For not spending time with you until the end.
I am a Brutus, I must confess,
Against the environment, I caused distress,
Carbon footprints, I must save and reduce,
Even if punished, I will not excuse.
My actions are crimes, but I cannot stop,
For the future of our planet, I must strive,
Even if it means neglecting my friends,
I will fight this battle until the end.
So, accept my apologies, my dear ones,
For I will keep on practising till the end,
With paper, pen, and pencil as my guns,
I will defeat the forces that bend.
My dear friends, I hope you can forgive,
For I am trying to make this world a better place to live.
And though my methods may seem absurd,
My intentions are pure and good at heart,
For I believe that every voice is heard,
And every action can make a start.
So, let us work together hand in hand,
To protect the earth, our common home,
And though we may not understand,
Each other's methods, let us roam.
Together we can make a difference,
With paper, pen, and pencil as our shield,
We can create a future that's existence,
Is filled with beauty and not with yield.
So, let us join our hearts and our hands,
And make the world a better place for all our friends.
And when the battle is finally won,
We'll look back with pride on what we've done,
For the earth will be a better place,
Thanks to our efforts and our steady pace.
So, dear friends of paper, pen, and pencil,
I hope you can see, my love for you is well.
And let us never forget our goal,
To protect the earth and make it whole,
For every tree we save, every stream we clean,
Is a step towards a greener dream.
So, let us not be afraid to stand,
For what we believe is right and just,
And let us never let go of our hand,
For together, we will surely trust.
And though we may stumble, we will rise,
With every pen stroke, every paper line,
For our cause is noble, our hearts are true,
And we will not give up, that's what we'll do.
So, dear friends of paper, pen, and pencil,
Let us continue this noble quest, so well.
And when the world has finally seen,
The beauty of our message serene,
We'll look back with pride on what we've done,
And thank the tools that helped us on.
And future generations will look back,
At our writings, our messages, our track,
And see the impact we have made,
In this world that was once in shade.
Our legacy will live on and on,
Through every word we've written, every song,
For we have left a mark that's bright,
A symbol of our love for what's right.
And though we may not be here to see,
The fruits of our labor, our legacy,
We can take comfort in knowing this,
That our efforts have left a lasting bliss.
So, dear friends of paper, pen, books and pencil,
Let us continue this noble quest, so well.
For we are the guardians of this earth,
And our duty is to protect its worth,
With every word we write, every line we draw,
We will make this world a better place, and that's our law.
