Grey Areas

Apoorva Singh 2005 (Rajpura)

Grey areas just don't leave me alone
My idea of being sober or my temptation to get stoned
My fragile tendencies
My indecent complexities
My grass that's not green enough
Or the sky that's not big enough
My heart not childish enough
My brain not smart enough
Black and white areas are just not how they seem
Nor is the light too bright to flash my eyes with it's beam
My insane cravings
My not so flourishing healings
My thoughts not pious enough
My words on Dias not strengthening enough My actions not admissible enough
My slamming on stereotypes not legit enough With different shades I relate different versions of me
My unspoken truths or the harsh reality
My unquestioned audacity
My abnormal normality
My laughter not joyous enough
My tears not candid enough
My story not raw enough
My sins not demonic enough
My grave that is still dry Because it doesn't have me in it
But my soul that I burnt
And with what I burnt the secrets and the ashes of it that I hide in it....

About this poem

This poem is about seeing depth in oneself. It is a dark poetry that sees world in a realistic light. It does not glorify perfection but is about flaws and true feelings of ours that we hide within ourselves.
