Lies To Tell Told

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Lies to tell them told,
Are as old as compliments given.
With an expectation to receive them back.

Yet...
Whose lies today told to tell,
Revealed to hear heard in public to expose.
Has more significant influence,
That could damage the wholesomeness...
Of a democracy flawed and blemished.
Although becoming damaged,
By propaganda and a pretentiousness...
Kept to imitate a window dressing,
Of a perfection sold to create as great.
Deluding minds to fiction,
A non-existence to defend and appreciate...
With a celebrating,
In a pomp and circumstance ceremony.
On an ongoing addicting basis.

When appearances of reality exhibited,
In archives dusting in basements stored...
Or libraries hidden somewhere to go ignored.
And even in museums,
Often darkened and closed.
To determined what's acceptable to exhibit.
Could and maybe too offensive.
And...
Unappropriate for inquistive children.
Under the age of 21.
Done to protect as effectively as possible,
The reputations of their discriminating...
Parents.
Concerned that the minds of their 'kids'.
Exposed to the truth and reality as is,
Could cause them sleepness nights.
And too many questions to ask,
About a past that they learned to be Historic.
Although without cartoon characters,
To describe how they survive all these years...
And not one to be seen pictured anywhere.
Being honored for their contributions made.

'Uh...
That's why many of our concerned parents,
Demanded to have more private schools.
To be built and established.
With our values to teach.
And censor and censor all books.
Detailing to describe a nothingness.
Nowhere on this Earth to have been done.

Listen to me and carefully.
Remember when I told you,
About that huge Arc in the Bible?
Build by one guy.
And was told to gather two of everything.
By this thunderous voice.
Invisible in the sky.
That shocked him while mowing his lawn.
To be sure there would be,
Both male and female.
And to gather everything else,
Which was relevant to our way of life.
This to do he did.
He name that Arc after himself.
Noah he called it.'

'Oh, yeah, now I remember.'

'Well...
Unfortunately,
Many relatives of those cartoon characters...
Could not survive through,
Those 40 days and nights of rain.'

'Gee.
That's sad.
I wish you had told me that a long time ago.
Some kids at school tried to convince me,
That stuff was a myth.
And their ancestors built the pyramids,
When they began to hear rumors...
That a weatherman claimed,
It would rain for a very long time.
So...
They barbecued for weeks.
And made sandwiches.
Some were vegetarians and ate just berries.
And drank homemade wine.
While inside the pyramids dancing.
To the latest music of those times.
They found a way to make batteries.
And said they also invented wi-fi too!'

'That's nonsense.
And people wonder why,
The minds of our children today...
Are messed up and confused!'
