Quis sum? Cur hic terrarum sum?
My cerebrum oft doth with ponderous musings teem,
As I perlustrate my very essence.
Quis sum? Cur hic terrarum sum? These queries seem,
Repeatedly I seek a true presence.
My raison d'etre, a constant quest to trace,
And delve into this mortal coil's distress.
My identity, a riddle to embrace,
A labyrinth I strive to e'er progress.
This daily pursuit doth weigh upon my mind,
But still, I seek the answers I desire.
Though oft my thoughts are troubled, unrefined,
I'll not relinquish, till my soul's entire.
So let me muse, let me seek and yearn,
Until my questions find a final turn.
About this poem
"Quis sum?" translates to "Who am I?" in Latin and "Cur hic terrarum sum?" translates to "Why am I here on this earth?" in Latin. These are the questions the speaker in the sonnet is asking themselves, seeking to understand their own identity and purpose in life. It is a common theme in literature and philosophy to question one's existence and place in the world.
