HANDS THAT ARE TIED

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

I have been sitting here like I do every morning drinking my coffee and watching the news. I am no damn superhero I do not look flattering in tights and a cape, and I have no superpowers or secret decoder rings. all I have is the fight of a warrior even though there are battles I may lose but with the heart of a lion, this is a war that I choose.

So many of us have voices yet are afraid to use them as I sit here people ask me I hope you know what you are doing and who it is that you are pissing off being that you always hid inside of the shadows just muddling along now they have you with your back against the wall and hands that are tied

I can not be happy with myself if I turn a blind eye and inside their machine not live but just survive. all these strange things that are happening deep within I feel and know are all the calm before the storm

So here I sit, I take my last sip of coffee and kiss my family goodbye to fight the battle that now as turned into war, a war that I was born to win
