Abstention
In vacuous discourse, let us not fritter away precious moments,
For the present moment avails us a rare chance to act.
Let us not lead a life of barren virtue,
But instead make our mark before the opportunity is gone.
For it is not a frequent occurrence that we are called upon to contribute,
To effectuate change, to make our existence known.
Therefore, let us seize this opportune instant,
And make our indelible impression before it becomes obscured.
With resolute strides and hearts burning with aspiration,
We shall effectuate a change, kindling the embers of progress.
Though the journey may be beset with obstacles and difficulties,
We shall persevere and etch our name in history.
Therefore, let us abstain from futile conversation,
But instead arise and act while the possibility persists.
About this poem
In life, it is important to practice what you preach. Too often, people talk a big game but fail to follow through on their words. If you want to make a difference and truly connect with others, then it is essential to not only speak but also to act. Deep conversations can be powerful and meaningful, but it is also important to put your thoughts into action and demonstrate your commitment to the cause. Deep talk is only as valuable as the actions that accompany it.
