Inside Out

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

I don’t want to see the outside
Only the inside is true
What was made on the outside was made for men
But the inside was made for You

Father I don’t want the lust of the flesh
And a woman that thinks that I’m hot
I just want a woman that sees the inside
And desires all the things that I’ve got

But where can I find a woman like that?
In this world that looks out but not in
Every woman I’ve known only sees the outside
And then leads me there deep into sin

I don’t need to feel the outside of her
With these hands that are filthy and old
I just need to feel the inside of her
Where your Spirit lives; then I’ll be bold

Father please give me a woman that can see
All the things that this world has not sown
If you give me a woman like that my dear Lord
On this earth I will never be alone

Lord Jesus I pray every day in your name
And the words of your Scripture I believe
So please grant the request of this servant of yours
And please give me a wife that believes

In your holy name Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
