Dusk Party

Piper Caltagirone 2006 (Pennsylvania)

Chivalry is dead
I know it is
My own dreams
Have lead me away
From the storybook love
That I have come to hate

It happens by the patio
With fairy lights above
And people cheering and shouting
We landed on the ground
Your look of apology
Tells me that it wasn't my fault

We fell hard
I scraped my knees
And my thigh
My hands torn apart
Your jeans ripped
And boots scuffed

I look to your eyes
You look to mine
I can see you now
I fear you can see me as well
My eyes have always portrayed my soul
Better than I could

You reach for me
I flinch
You freeze
Dark hair covers your eyes
for a split second
I lose you

Then you are back
Staring me dead in the eyes
Coming closer
And closer
Inches separate us
Patients is not known by either

People start whistling
I hear your sigh
And I hold my breath
For dear life
I hold on
Your lips land on mine

About this poem

Its about a dream that I had, in a different world where I was almost the same person but more like how I want to be.
