We Die Young

Amogelang Disebo 1994 (Mahikeng, North West)

What is life if not a meaningless gamble?!
Death was never just a fable.
One minute we are dreaming,
The next, we are saints who are now sinning.
What if this is only a lucid dream?!
What if we only wake up after we die?!
Souls timidly tainted in silent screens...
Death is the only heavenly chariot we bitterly ride.
We're only ephemerons to this masquerade,
Which mask to wear to hide this pain?!
Triple dose of my prescribed poison,
We were raised on moderated toxins.
I'd rather be served my poison by my father...
Tell mother that she's the reason I fight with my brother!
We unknowingly  made a covenant with the angel of death.
Hence curses follow us from our birth.
We're  not the beautiful types,
Nor are we the confident kind.
We are the salt,
We are the  unflavoured water...
We've been through it all...
Fought demons and married dragon's daughters.
We die young,
For we're the chosen ones.
