I live

Mabesele Tshepang 2001 (Free State)

In the place of wrath and tears I live
Under the shades of cold souls, I am a survivor.
The heart that has been broken in decades of pieces still has mystery left to be written down into those books that claimed the history before us.
Frown faces that had claimed hate, still can smile.
I am not yet dead, and I refuse death.
I refuse death that will leave the grief and suffering to the spirit that freely surrounds the skies.
I refuse death that will cause hate over the body that doesn't live.
I refuse death that will reap away love that has been there before and still is.
I lived yesterday, I live today and I will live tomorrow.
I live.
