Blood of A Different Color

                  Blood Of A Different Color

My father sees his blood run through me
                                     as his daughter.
My father sees my daughter as his
                                     granddaughter.
My father has yet to see his his blood run
                          through his my grandchildren,
For they're his Blood Of A Different Color.
Even though my father's blood runs through
                                        them,
he can't see past their color.
For many years another man has played the
                          the part of my father,
even though his blood doesn't run through
them, he never saw no color.
He only saw the blood of the woman he loved.
He never looked at my grandchildren as
                      Blood Of A Different Color.
He only saw the beauty inside each of them,
Now he's gone, but not forgotten, for children
don't forget those who loved them,
                          and saw no color.
If only my blood father could see past the
                                      Color,
Then he too could see the beauty inside
His Blood Of A Different Color
