Ode to Love

Riaan Smit 1988 (Windhoek)

I believe in love that lifts the soul
Fills your heart, makes you whole
You got the whole wide world inside your arms

It Touches you with a magic hand
You shoot to the sky but you’ll never land
That beast you hide inside, is kept calm

Here’s an ode to love I’ve been meaning to give
An ode to love, the greatest of all gifts
That I’ve given and I’ve gotten more than I deserve

Here’s an ode to love I’ve been meaning to say
What I get tomorrow is what I’ve given today
Here’s ode to love, for better or for worse

Watch the sunrise through the windowsill
Tell a sweet lover that you love them still
The words fall off their lips like holy water

The mind is a treasure trove of happiness
It Stays stronger longer than a lustful kiss
Laughter always leads to a happily ever after

Here’s An ode to love, the quest of all life
An ode to love the reason we’re all alive
And I Don’t want to be living on borrowed time

Here’s an ode to love, where magic is real
the mystical power that completely heals
A broken body, and a shattered mind
