The New Birth

The term much maligned
As men have wined and dined
And smirked at that uncommon thing.
To honour brokenness and loss
To see repentance pure joy bring.
And that is what the first Jews said
Who followed Christ
Though traitors seeming.
Tis now the time for Gentiles
“Repenting unto life
Cleansed faces beaming.”
To hear me speak of such
You laugh, all mocking it.
But once the Spirit pulls your heart
You won’t stop talking it.
