Forgotten Yesterdays

I breathed argon and oxygen I dove so deep,
I climbed until the sky turned black,
With air, so thin I could not see, but questioned still,
I grew weary of their questions.
Asked a dozen times, in as many ways,
Yet no one would listen to what I had to say.
So now I've turned my, back,
           and walked away.
Each day the sun still comes up,
           maybe it still shines,
                       on my friend Michael today.

About this poem

I found this poem amid a stack of older manuscripts, I don't remember the circumstances of its writing or who my friend Michael was.
