No Demands

Paul Aschenbrenner 2001 (United States)

Her eyes demand no color nor hue
To me they shimmer like a gleaming jewel
Tender, placid, as the morning dew
Never heartless nor likewise cruel

Her body demands no figure nor form
To me it glows like a golden fleece
Alive, vibrant, as an early spring storm
Yet refined, polished, and full of peace

Her hair demands no texture nor nap
To me it shines like a crown of light
Radiant, brilliant, as a cardinals cap
Never tarnished nor out of sight

Her smile demands no cast of clay
To me it beams like the setting sun's ray
Cheerful, content, as two children at play
Enhancing my life each glorious day.
