Together

Should the sun set, on my life unfulfilled,
Leaving me buried beneath hillock or hill,
Know that I'll love you and dream of you still,
Dream of you always beneath hillock or hill.

No dream could be sweeter, as we are together,
Endlessly dancing, from under the heather,
All anguish will fade, as my chest will fall silent,
But I will be with you, beneath hillock or hill.

Eternities pass and we will dance on,
Infinity guiding my afterlife song,
I will take your hands, and stare into your eyes,
Our lifetime together strewn across the skies.

But it's not my time yet,
The sun has not set,
Our time together, that will carry on still,
Carry on, atop hillock, hillock or hill.

About this poem

Following a break up last year in which I caught my girlfriend cheating on me, I struggled to come to terms with what had happened as I still very much loved her. I wrote this as a means to help me come to terms with what happened and what I was feeling at the time.

Jordan Bates

I am new to writing poetry. I have always loved the work of great poets of the past as well as philosophy as it gives us a better understanding into the human condition. I now write in order to help me process my feelings that I am struggling to come to terms with more…
