The Lake

N, Gamage 1974 (Sri Lanka)

There 's a shake in the blue water
As it glitters in the dusky sun
Waves rolling over in a twitter
Playing its silvery - crown
Who shakes the crowns in water ?
Every eve and early time appear and disappear
Sinking silver playlets
In a rapid trance
Waiting for the morning hour
In splendour -grow
A dance tonight will be hosting a fairy -crew
Who in their delight confessed a devine -brew
Lake water gleam extended to a distance
Running about in the lake
Earth blue -water cavity never did shine more
In the bubbles and the ripples of their awe
The pilgrimage is about to begin
Those stood in glare are about to leave
A sight ,rare beside the shrine

About this poem

Sun 's last strips fell on the lake blue water, a dazzling picture of beauty that attracts the poet who was on a pilgrimage that evening
