Swathed in Ribbon

Swathed in Ribbon
& in the mind, where thoughts are nothing but endless heaps of twirled ribbon,
intertwined upon each other like forgotten limbs left knotted,
I imagine the world cradled amongst these swaths of silk.
But I cannot unravel my ribbons
That hold me place
I cannot unravel those thoughts
That break this space
I cannot tear past the musicality of These spiraling swirls,
These breathtaking curls,
These swaths of silk,
so slippery and tight around my neck
& I'm choking.
The faces I see are globed and obscured by the merciless insanity
Of my ribbons a wave of strings netted like sea foam things upon the world.
& when I close my eyes, I breathe in the darkness beneath my lids and whisper with some vehemence:
I cannot untie them.
I cannot let go of them.
We are one,
& when my ribbons are cut, My thoughts bleed free
& I drift away, amongst the crashing waves of the world
and ceaselessly beyond the night-only the stars hold me back,
as the void of existence dawns upon my soul, as my tears trail down my ribbons, flowing free, & guide me awake.
