My African dream
My African dream
.
I wish for an Africa where children
won't just be the moon that collects light
but the sun that radiates light...
becoming tomorrow’s agents of change
and a medium for social transformation.
I weep for my Africa
where hunger feeds our meals
and our tears masquerade as drink
Our smiles are poisoned by false laughter
and total absence of happy ever-after.
I wish for an Africa
where the souls of children will be watered daily
with the dew of love...
sprouting from a tiny tendrils into a verdant garland.
Only then, their clamoring voices will have a launch-pad
for their dreams to ignite.
I dream of an Africa
where potential will be encouraged,
where vision won't die untapped
where the cemetery won't be just a burial ground
for the emaciated bones of our African legacy.
I crave an Africa
where seeds of greatness will germinate
in the hearts and
souls of African children
I crave for a continent where our children
read, write and spell words with confidence.
While fathers are fending, mothers’ love is burning
but everyone engaging with a rain forest engulfed with fire
Even our Government now realising, sponsoring
and most important and best of all,
our children now learning.

About this poem
This poem is born from a heart that throbs and pulsates for African children, its a dream II crave to materialize in the life of every unfortunate Africa child, lost in a labyrinth of purposelessness and vulnerability.
