Loyal to the end

Andrew Skinner 1975 (Southend on Sea)

A trench they dug,
Under the guns of the enemy,
Raised barbed wire,
To try and foil an invasion,
They built a wall,
To protect themselves,
They hoisted a flag,
To mark their territory,
Marched towards eventual victory,
Each one loyal until the end.
