I believe in something

Jessica okwali 2005 (Ibusa delta State)

Tell me what to believe in
All hope has gone in flame
Say what I'm to trust in
When all hopes are caged on feelings the same

Cheated with the ignominy of love
Isolated with the dangerous memories
Memories that flies greater than a dove
But shines as bright as fire flies

Tell me what to believe in
I believe in something
Something that leads to nothing
Daring me to be cast in flame

Now I've seen something
Something greater than nothing
I believe in something
Now I believe in love

About this poem

I wrote this poem after my breakup, thinking that I won't be happy again. But all that changed when I found my love once more
