I am depression

Alyssa McCaw 1995 (Brooks alberta)

I’ll wait until your all alone
I’ll send chills down every bone
I’ll make tears procreate
While you sit there and contemplate
 “Am I really a mistake?”

I’ll turn your friends into enemies
Without reason you’ll see
Emotionless ,you may soon be
I promise that
It wont be a breeze
I come with no answers
Only words you believe

But you already discovered
I’m like no other
 I’ll tell you that
you’ll never recover
I’m like a blanket you can’t uncover

I feed off of pain
Even all of your shame
I promise that this is not a game
This is the beginning of time forever changed
Your mind will soon begin to fade
These thoughts I promise
Have came to stay
But some day
I may go away
But in the end it’ll be okay
I’m slowly taking your pain away

The medication you take
You’ll think it doesn’t work anyways
So with one motion it goes
Be careful you’ll soon know
More pain will soon grow
But at first it won’t show

You’ll think success
you have found
But if your not careful
Next is the ground
My First attempt is always found
Love is what you’ll feel around
But someday
I’ll silence the sound

I’ll leave you feeling heated
A lot of help , you’ll soon be needing
Just Don’t become conceited
I like you better when your undefeated.
My answers are completed
I made you believe it
With every inch of your being
You were Lost but not treated
In a moment you’ll be thinking
“Why can’t the past just be re written?”
And than you’ll be wishing
You didn’t pretend to listen
Instead you made a decision
To end every vision
This is my intention
I am depression

About this poem

I was depressed for a really long time because of going through domestic violence as a young mom and during that time I wrote exactly how I felt . Here is my poem. Thank you for reading .
