Hedgerows

Claire Buckle 2970 (United Kingdom)

For the creatures of the night, know the right corridors to go.
Twisting turning weaving birds below.
Feeding in the last light.
before the stars glow.
Rats clinging on upside down.
With sloe berries in sight.
That rat
 gave me such a fright.

In the safety of the hedgerows
And bushes below.
A dlerping hedgrhog rolled up tight.
Could be its only place to hide for the night.
Spikey tight in a ball.
This was his only place to go.
Below the hedgerow.
Sleeping tight.
So please don't let the hedgerows go

The deers rely on the ditch below.
A deep hollow below.
With safety still in sight.
For the deer to hide.
From scarey mankind.

Even the fox declares
Appearing from the bank.
His den below hiding from the snow.
The winters chill hidden in the ditch below.
A safe haven for animals
to go
So saved our hedgerows and have a thought.
For the creatures of the night
