Fight For the Dawn

We fight for the dawn.
Our young country at its worst.
Wounded, dead, and bombarded with heavy artillery.
Smoke inescapable, clouding all but the flames.
We the people, paralyzed with fear.
Struggling for freedom once won, our hope in the flying colors on that grievous night.
We fight for the dawn.
In the thick of night.
The dead innumerable on every side.
The symbol of freedom held up by the slaughtered.
It stands strong and high, and with it our will to fight.
Mud, and blood smeared on us all.
Our strength failing fast.
fight for the dawn.
Is all we cry.
Defending our home, we try.
Against the impossible we have hope.
Even as our symbol of freedom flys battered.
As it stands seeable to all even in the thick smoke.
Our adversaries, put all their effort into the ruination of our flag.
We fought for the dawn.
As the sun gleamed on the crippled flag.
Our enemies flabbergasted as it still stands.
The smoke cleared away.
We tired, could not withhold our cheers.
Freedom won never to be lost.
We lay down the dead in peace.
Holding our hearts we sing of our freedom.
Remembering that night of turmoil.
When in the smoke that flag stood high.
When we fought for the dawn.
