Dublin awaken

Atop Montpellier hill at dawn,
City lights twinkle akin to stars in a night sky.
Every colour sparkling in black stillness,
Peaceful serenity, blanketing Dublin.

Streaking through a slumbering peace,
Blue lights dash like a flash dancer.
Alerting everyone of overt doom,
Freezing us in our tracks.

Nature reminds us to breathe once again,
On inhale we move forward.
Brief thought towards our blue lights’ destination,
Forgetting instantly, as fir trees sway our cares away.

Upon reflection nature is a powerful distraction,
Permitting us lose our direction.
Taking a wrong road,
Along that yellowed wood.

Born free to follow a path,
Guidance hindered by pain or greed.
Innocent in the eyes of loved ones,
Guilty at the hammer of living.

Running from entrapment,
Belief all were born free.
Actions impeded by domesticity,
Entrapped by human expectations.

Minutes from our captures,
Freedom presents as nature trail.
Breathe, smile, and allow humanness flow away,
Atop Montpellier Hill you are solely free.
