A Shade of Blue

Hue.....
Bluish Hue by the coast
Wavering doubts
Shading timid
Easing rage
Muffling a forlorn shadow

The whole 9 yards
In 8 corners
Blemishing the whirling specter
A shadow now left checked
And clemency within doorstep

It’s quaint indeed
To stare
To feel
To taste
To smell
To love
Yet
It’s onerous
To keep the whole 9 yards

Alluring blue
Grasping life
And breathing cold
While spitting the heat
To comprehend the quaint

I wavered my will
To the blue
To break me
Smothered me
With its waving breeze
Thundering waves
Monochrome vista
It’s indomitable will
Daunting the haughty surly stare

A halcyon moment
For the umpteenth times
This precocious dasein
Within a solitary conformance
Exulting in embracing mundanity

A charlatan.....
Whimpered within confinement
Committed to debauchery
Loving pernicious act
As if it’s a virtue

Daintily I rhymed
Minding my deeds with the blue
Before solving other inordinate deeds
A homage......
A perfect settlement
To forgo any owing state

Dispute has left the room
Erasing all the qualms within
An allusion of alluring peace
Embracing me once more
Within this esoteric confinement

Long have I dreaded
To be
To live
Within the solace of this bluish hue
The specter forgoes its forlorn state
Empty with disgrace

Quaint words
The blue whimpered through my feet
You have a very rich choice of words
Peculiar diction
Quite fascinating
Bluish hue smothered me tight
Holding me
Leaving sighs and writhes
And yet, empty and pretentious
A haughty man with big words
You are..... presumptuous

This breeze
This cooled state
This hampering color
Is hammering me
Putting me
To see
Who I am
Loving.....
Pretentiousness
Greediness
Vanity
Illusion of grandeur
Savior and God complex
Perhaps it’s time
To love
To stand
Within harmony
Within togetherness
Within understanding
Within the blue’s wisdom

About this poem

When I think of blue, I think of myself on the far edge of the world, staring at the endless blue waving its greetings and goodbyes back and forth. The calming rhythm of the blue has always been gracious in giving me the comfort for contemplating and debating on one's character.

Juan Nieves

I grew up in a capital of a third world country but I've always been gracious for the privilege and opportunity given by my parents and life to be able to have the downtime to be able to be alone with my thoughts and the chance to write it all down. Currently, I'm studying for a degree in engineering in Grande Ecole in France :) more…
