Free My Soul

Free me, I want you to unhand me
You captivated my heart from its beat
You’ve removed me from a throne I once seat
You made me a refugee in the land of love
You held down the wings of my doves
I cried to the Heavens above
To liberate me from the weight you carry
To let me go & to me find my merry
The weight I accepted as cost to your joy
The assignment of your burdens I been deployed
Your hands have mistaken me for a toy
Subject to move to your desire
But let me reignite my soul to its fire
To me you’re no longer a sire
Your touch is a beautiful liar
But I don't ask for effort or love
Nor to you do I wish to be beloved
My heart and soul you shoved
To fire, flames and it’s demise
The tears in my eyes didn’t suffice
But you took the rest of me as sacrifice
And to your arms I fled
A lamb and to the slaughter I head
To be sacrificed to a thought
Or maybe to a God
It was never planned out
But my ashes are one with the grout
To realize I’d rather fall into my grave
Than to receive the love I once craved
In my heart your name is engraved
But no more merry memories are saved
The receipt I had for you has long aged
I leave you today, free from your cage
