Dreams

Saara Sharma 2006 (Jaipur)

I wake.

Pardon me, dear sunshine,

For not noticing the golden dust

Nor asking what did you bring,

From the valleys of the sun.

I walk.

Excuse my oblivion, dear world,

For the remembered dreams have blocked my sight

And the fading ones are to be caught again

So take my hand and lead me to the oblivious.

I see.

And I'm on a path so grey and red

Sunbeams in the blue skry, the rain falls.

Touch not the companion roses, for each has twenty weapons

For every beauty comes with a cost.

I say.

To the wind, to the sun, to the path,

That to unknown I came, and with unknown I shall deal

That the mystery of living is too much to bear

So push me hard, and watch me win.

I listen.

The whispers of the world speak,

Of wars, of victory and of defeat

The encouragement,the mockery, mingle together

Untill it's just a murmur of the wind.

I laugh.

When I wake up and the moon tells me

Of my destiny, which lays far, far behind

And in a trance I follow my footsteps,

Only that they are back to my past.

I stare, I gasp, I cry, I giggle.

The colours of my dreams dance beneath me

Miles and miles under the world I cherish

Worlds apart, a dream to catch my dreams,

But the world asks, 'Who will catch you if you fall?',

I shrug, I smile.

As careless as I can ever be.

I touch the rose, and the thorns prick me.

Excruciatingly exuberant, unknown it is

I say my farewell to the world.

Finally, I fall.
