Don’t Forget the Lame

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

It’s not cold; it’s just very cool.
If you obey you’re not a fool!
When you can’t find anything to say;
Then just sit down; don’t go away!

High and slow moving, not in a rush,
If I can’t find the right words I just need to hush!
The sky is clearing; it’s blue overhead.
The clouds disappearing, was it something I said?

Oh no, no it wasn’t! I just moved as I led.
Still the LORD is my God, as I rise from the dead!

Though I may have been crippled, I have a thousand-foot crutch!
I’ll ascend into heaven and feel His sweet touch!
So, don’t try to harm me or you’ll die in the fire!
Such is the fate of each wicked liar!
