Still Awake

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

I wonder while I’m still awake;
Why Jesus Christ they tried to break?
He healed the sick and raised the dead;
And yet they mocked as Jesus bled.

They demanded Jesus’ crucifixion;
To satisfy their own addiction!

He prayed for them as He was dying;
He loved them but they kept on lying.
They were glad they killed God’s only Son!
But He rose from death; He lives! We won!
