WHEN I STEPPED INTO THE PARADISE

Saptarshee Sarcar 2009 (Guwahati, Assam)

When I stepped into the paradise,
My sins were washed away.
A distant horn blew melodiously,
And there was no more dismay.
My heart was light and it became wise,
When I stepped into the paradise.

Before I stepped into the paradise,
The nether was haunting me.
Where to sojourn is a despair,
And was not feasible for me.
But the nether's count didn't arise,
Before I stepped into the paradise.

After I stepped into the paradise,
The glimpses of my motherland came after my face.
My companions neglected me and went,
And the world forgot my phase.
My praying to the almighty was counted in a morn' rise,
After I stepped into the paradise.

When I left the paradise,
I ventured to a distant land.
Where my new companions greeted me,
And my life's winter ceased its trend.
My soul became free and itself rejoiced,
When I left the paradise.
