The Lunacy

Rukaiya Aslam Shaikh 2003 (Maharashtra)

Thou knocked at the door of my heart,
I opened the gates
And believed it to be a serendipity
Couldn’t see the deceitful eyes
‘cause I was drowned in the ocean of unfathomable love
I don’t know what theurgy was it
but thou art an epitome of a flawless necromancer
I thought thy heart my abode
I thought thy love unbound
Then I saw that fire evanescenting
I saw that euphoria fading
Then came the moment
Thou bid adieu
Thou not were a faithful amante
Not were a fidus Achates
O whited sepulchre!
Thou unaware of the pulchritude of love
Thou unaware of the dolour of love
Love fills in languor
Love tears to asunder
Love makes nyctophile
Ac now when I see the welkin,
I remember the eld me
And chortle out loud
O the Lunacy!
