Some time

Faith Mahapa 2006 (Seshego, Polokwane)

*Some time*
  by _Faith Mahapa_

What is the point of I?
Clearly I am only set out to reset character
You give me hopes of the beauty beyond the Vail
And the mysteries behind meeting one's maker

'A bit of time' ,I request of you
Pinch me not as I breathe in this journey of mine
For it is only the last rattle I'll hop on to at the sticky end
A dirty nap I'd say

Send me not to eternity or the promised land
It is better to enjoy the fiction on this uncertainty
The shade of what would happen soon
Do not ooze at me ,let me conquer my viability

Give me some time and allow me not to count the worms
Do not dicapitate my  hope
Ohh Grim Reaper
It's is not time to go out with one's boots in bang

Some time to shine,I beg
This bowl of cherries shall not rot
Give me some time to bite the bullet
With no hesitation I shall walk with you to  bite the dust

About this poem

This poem is about my fear of death. In this poem I question my existence, what it the point of being alive if we're going to die some day. Living with the fact that we'll one day die is scarier. Asking myself when ,how, why and where and getting no answer. The myths that there is afterlife, but with nothing to prove it, and at the end ,I ask death to please spare me for some time and let me live up to my heart's content and when the time for death comes ,I promise to embrace it.
