Solemn Thoughts

Utkarsh Chopra 1992 (Gorakhpur)

In tin boxes on a charted path,
These souls zip away to a new day.
Chasing illusions and dreams,
All of them trying to find their way.

Living but not loving their time,
Speaking but not honest to their words.
Stating opinions from war to crime,
At ease in their cages yet envious of free birds.

Biased notions of how to be,
Resentful glances to those who dare to break free.
But can they really choose,
Or settle to be a part of this confined rally.

I watch them all from a silent spot,
As they strive to fulfill desires.
I smile at my own path,
Where I choose to be me.
