Money

Saumya Marathe 2005 (Uttar Pradesh)

Money, everyone touches,
Yet no one feels,
Still so important;
If you don't have,
People leave!
So much feelings to carry,
Happiness, togetherness, love and care,
But all these are frail,
Today in front of money,
Everything fails!!
Money,
A little piece of paper,
Is not so weak and feeble,
Harder than stone,
It can decide one's future on its own!
If you have less,
They'll talk less;
If you have more than enough,
Nothing in life is so tough!
If you carry a goal,
You must have money,
And if you don't ,
They'll call you funny!
The truth that lies deep,
No government tries to sweep!
Money, is a game;
Hardly has some end.
Some sleep on beds,
While some lie on the streets;
Some throw the breads,
While some pick it and eat!
Everything carries some end,
Money, is a game,
A new trend!!

About this poem

The popular saying, 'Money can't buy happiness', seems false to the middle class. This poem is by their point of view.
