Love Conquers All

Marvyn Murdock 1982 (Kingston)

I’ve been cut, I’ve been scarred but nothing hurts more than a broken heart,
beating it’s feathers against a caged wall,
desperately seeking rebirth like a Phoenix from ashes

No medicine cures and Cupid’s a beast with thorns and arrows and razor sharp teeth -
No man can win against this brute as he transfixed us all with charms and spells

A gargoyle at best that roams the streets at will, pursing our thoughts with prizes of affection
But leaving us maimed if “true love” fails

Love conquers all with Time as his accomplice -
United as one, sarcophagus monsters
