Life is a Movie

Aqeelah 2006 (Colombo)

I believe, life is a movie,
but no one's truely
acting, it's just what we do.
Some feel joy, others watch
to point out our mistakes.
Mistakes perfect for the final cut.

We cry alone
and scenes change by dawn.
Staying slim and eating thin,
or I give up and let the doctor do his thing.
So no critic does his sin.
I'm grateful for my Oscars and fame,
for it is my duty,
when living a life like a movie.

About this poem

This poem talks about the judgmental society and how these critics influence our life as humans. Personally this poem speaks of my eating disorder experience and how this whole journey feels like a movie to just satisfy the views of others. In another way, just like how an actor changes his diet, hair, lifestyle, etc for a successful movie (winning the hearts of the viewers).
