Life Boat

I am a life boat

Floating in a never ending abyss of blackness

Miles upon miles of nothingness

A pitch black darkness

Enough to make somone insane or hallucinate

No paddles or oars to navigate me

This thick black liquid threatens to sink me

Sweat trickles down my back

Ghouls swim by grinning and circling

Ready to attack

Hairline pin like needles poke through

And so begins my descent

I am a life boat

You cling to me to try and get to safety

Each added pound of your suffering

Absorbs into my skin

It's a bitter acid

A kind of quick sand effect

Trying to dry and wither out my soul

So I'm nothing left but a meat suit of somone who froze

I am a life boat

Sinking down into purgatory

My feet already wet and submerged

Desperately looking for a life boat of my own

There is no life raft for the damned nor for the wicked taking rides on the backs of the damned

I am a lifeboat

tethered to the floor of it

Submerging slowly

black water halfway up my calves

Pleading my case to a father whose followers say

Have faith for the pain and suffering is all just a test

As if he's just watching with a broad smile on his face

Waist deep and panicking

dark liquid traveling fast

Starting to think about death and ways my life will end

What kind of butterfly effects will inevitably come next

I am a life boat

Water up to my chest

My heart is a drum

beating a deafening beat against my ligaments

With every inch drenched

These Ghouls laugh knowing my head is coming next

I am a life boat

Water up to my neck

Morose and settling in drawing my conclusions

Accepting fate that there is nothing left

All the while taking light heading breaths

I am a life boat

Sunken to the depths of what seems like an

Infinitely never ending abyss

Miles upon miles of nothingness.
