Healing

Terra A. Day 1986 (Tacoma Washington)

They told me hide your trauma
Nobody needs to know
They told me hide your pain
Most eyes just look away anyway
They told me hide your broken
The pieces the world finds less favorable
The told me hide your suffering
Others have their own
They told me hide your vices
The ones that spirald into addictions
Because They said, everyone has their own thing
They told me hide your Healing
That it's too personal to show
They told me hide your journey to sobriety
To keep it all on the low
And that's the first time i stood my ground
The first  time I said NO
When they told me hide my smile
My face split into the biggest one I had
When they told me hide my Shine
I turned  it up As bright as it could go
When they told me hide your soul
I splayed it wide open for everyone to see
Because even though I spent so long struggling quietly alone
Like I was told
I will always speak loudly
About all the things
They told me
No one cares to see
And I will never be THEM
Telling another to hide and suffer silently alone
So speak your truth
Say your piece
And always live the way
That feels the best to you
They cannot take that away from you.
