एक अग्निपरीक्षा
Born with the brilliance of fire on the face,
heat of fire in the breath & purity of fire in the heart. She shall be called as Yagyaseni.
Princess of Panchal, Panchali.
Drupad's daughter, DRAUPADI.
Got life long struggle,
divided among Pandavas.
Dragged by her hair, brought to the court.
And disrobed by Kauravas.
She was a Woman, not an animal!
She was a Queen and not a maid!
Draupadi's pain was unimaginable.
She alone have shed tears
of all the women in the world.
Everyone has abided by righteousness,
none had the courage to stop Dushasana.
The courage to stop unrighteousness
in the name of righteous.
About this poem
The story of Draupadi is told in the great indian script Mahabharata, one of the Sanskrit epics from the Indian subcontinent. Draupadi was the main female protagonist of Mahabharata. She is noted for her beauty, courage, and a rare polyandrous marriage.
