Dear Best Friend

I’ve let you in,
In my world, I’ve made you a queen;
Heaven knows I’ve given it my all
To keep you safe in it.

Yet today, I’m alone
In my clumsy world;
Even the queen left her kingdom;
Probably couldn’t feel with all the darkened comfort.

Living off of regrets
I’d wish you’d never…
But at least you’ve left my shadow
That awkwardly befriended me.

I couldn’t hold on to you
But I’d be watching you shine;
Seeing a better version of you,
I’d be proud, hyping you from afar.

I’d give anything to re-live our days
But who am I to change destiny?
A lot I want to say,
But I’d be selfishly hurting you.

“You ain’t a good friend “,
I’m crying my veins out,
Ignoring that neither was I.

If a me and you once existed
I must’ve owned you the world
To still you to see you shine!
