Beech Trees

Denae Morrison 1987 (Florida)

In berths and fetes
Securing eyes, not taking a leap

Vot, this time in malice and vex
Possessed by an unintentional hex

At 34, I entered 33
Leaving with you, to Beech Tree

Then to mountainless hope
Moored to Safety, grasping your rope

Loosened the grip giving credence to Alpha & Chi
Faith in God; Adam and Eve

Fleeting dyads plummet
Seeking to crack locum tenens to numb it

Pairs of manus tied  behind our back
Follying that the apparation fell flat

Adoltorating your limpid hazel
I bereft of liquid above my navel

God as his judge seeking a knowledge that will not cease
Him and Her along

Beach Trees
