A lonely island

 Sat there on a lonely island, a girl named Rachel
Unvaryingly in love, oblivious to its ephermal nature
Lost track of time for it was a fleeting creature
Longing for peace in life with a complete stranger

 As pure as driven snow, as passionate as sin
Love was an uncharted land for Juliet from the very beginning
She had been bent and broken but never to win
Finally life gave her something for yearning

 Perhaps, this time the fate would deal her a different hand
And the glimmer of hope might just never set
She awaited the serendipity of life, oh thou have some pity
Let her wash her hands off life’s duties.

 Although she lost again but this time it was perhaps to win
For a summer love is never a timeless being.
It was not about love and not about hate
Just a lesson she understood late

 Too blind to see, too deaf to hear
The awakening of life is never dear
Not once had she seen life as such a great teacher
Sat there on lonely island, a girl named Rachel.

About this poem

This is self composed poem written in the hours of solitude with nothing to ponder except about the elements of life: love and lessons. Inspired by the thoughts running in the facets of mind during a particular phase of life, this poem is a poignant account of rushed emotions experienced by a young girl named Rachel upon witnessing the ever lasting sea. As one reads through this poem , he /she realizes how negligent human mind is. We overlook what is important in the rush to run behind unchecked emotions.
