Kills



It kills me writing this down.
I shake —my hand shakes as I write.
The parchment beneath me is riddled with streaks defining
emotion —ache, regret, grief, love, fear, desire.
I wish falling in love could wash away this pain but it never will.
If I ever want to full give myself to someone, wholeheartedly,
I have to let go. I have to release my grasp on the hurt I’ve been carrying since age five.
I don’t have to forgive. I don’t have to forget. I don’t have to feel.
I have to breathe.
I have to let it go.
